I partner with you and your family every step of the way

College Counseling: The college search and application process can be challenging for students and their families.  The stakes feel high; the stress is real.  But it is also a rite of passage — the first step many students take towards independence and early adulthood.  The high school years offer a rich opportunity for young people to pursue their authentic interests and to identify and develop their natural gifts.

Markman Educational Consulting leads students through a multi-step process of self-discovery, and guides them as they apply their findings to academic and extra-curricular choices throughout high school.  As students identify, explore and build on their interests, they begin articulating and pursuing their goals for the future. Equipped with these tools, students are better prepared to search for and apply to colleges that align with their strengths and interests.

Career Counseling: During high school and college many students start the process of exploring professional interests. It can be challenging to correlate their aptitudes and passions to potential career paths. My goal for young people is identify and develop those authentic interests that will lead to meaningful work and lifelong pursuits.  Markman Educational Consulting supports students' growth with a multi-dimensional, research-based Career Interests Navigator and Counseling process that culminates in identifying and investigating high indicator career matches.

"Ms. Markman made a huge difference in my applications to competitive engineering programs.  She developed a list of schools that really appealed to me and then helped me strategize and submit applications I was proud of.  In particular, my essays really benefitted from her brainstorming support and feedback.  She was always available to answer any questions I had. With knowledge of financial aid resources and steps after college applications, Ms. Markman is the all-seeing eye that has prepared me for my future goals."

"Ericka is so calm and professional it made the college application process much less stressful.  She kept us (the parents) apprised, but she mainly focused on our daughter to ensure she picked schools that were a good fit.  Ericka has a great manner that allowed her to be very positive and reassuring even while offering insightful critiques to our daughter's applications. She was a great help to our family.  I highly recommend her!"

"I greatly appreciate how Ericka always made herself available to strategize about application plans and increase my confidence with the process. She suggested edits to my essays and profile that helped me present myself as a more compelling applicant. Talking with Ericka inspired me to finish my common app essay in a new direction, which tied together my narrative, interests, and talents. I was also able to broaden and balance my college list based on her research and advice because she found schools that fit my goals, but which had not been on my radar."

Hailey S. - Bethesda, MD

"Ericka did a fabulous job helping my son successfully navigate his college search and applications.  She took a lot of the stress out of the process.  I was able to pull back because I knew she was working closely with him through every step, and keeping him on track with deliverables and deadlines.  She is great with teenagers!"
