The Right Fit

There is no such thing as a one-size–fits-all college.

Despite the claims of well-publicized ranking systems, it is impossible to evaluate schools in rank order.  The key question is: what is the right fit for your student?  Every student and family are different – and so is every college search.  I listen carefully to students and families throughout this highly individualized process to identify their priority considerations.  For some families, cost is an important factor.  For others, it is proximity to home.  Some students are looking for specific academic programs, extra-curricular offerings or internship opportunities.  Others will find their fit based on a campus “vibe”.  My goal is to guide students through a college search process that is built upon self-knowledge and driven by personal goals.  By working together every step of the way, we develop a list of right-fit colleges for each student.

College Affordability

For many families, college is one of the most significant financial investments they will ever make.

College is expensive.  If financial considerations are a key factor in choosing a “right-fit” college, Markman Educational Consulting can tailor your college list to schools that offer excellent value and the potential for generous merit-aid.

Academic Support

Fit matters for all students.  But it is especially important  for students with learning differences.

Most colleges say they provide academic support for all students.  Yet some schools provide more robust services than others.  A key component of finding a right-fit college, is identifying schools that can provide the best support for your student.  Markman Educational Consulting knows which colleges and universities have a demonstrated track record of providing meaningful support through their learning effectiveness programs and disability services.  I can guide you through the process of finding and establishing a supportive environment for your child, beginning with the process of securing approval for accommodations and services. Markman Educational Consulting partners with your family to find the right setting for your child, with the right scaffolding and support for a successful college experience.
